What to expect...

This memoir-writing programme consists primarily of eight sections (plus an introduction and a final session) which I will send you by email weekly.

Each section is based around a theme, with helpful cue questions to unlock memories from the past, as well as occasional writing hints and tips. These will help you put your memories into words.

The idea is for you to make your way through the section and write whatever comes to mind about your story. Don't try to make it perfect, just get something down on paper. Editing can come later. The hardest thing is to start writing. So just start... Treat yourself to a nice notebook and pen, or use your computer. Just get writing... I suggest you spend at least one hour writing each week but you may want to write more, according to your circumstances. You will end up with an outline sketch of your life story. We do not do any editing during the course, rather we set out to write down the main bones of the story.

We will also meet online when we can find a slot for all of us to meet together, to share something of our story with one another, which can be fascinating and a great encouragement to one another. No-one is obliged to share anything they don't want to share, however. And it goes without saying that whatever we share is confidential and remains within the group. We will give each other constructive and positive feedback from our stories.
